Application

Jesus: This is a great clip to use as a way into the person of Jesus - either his arrival at Christmas, the claims he made during his ministry or the significance of Easter. Who would have thought that the baby in the manger was God himself? Surely God would have organised a bigger entrance than this? Or what about the controversy over the carpenter from Nazareth - could he really be the Messiah? Or Easter. Could a brutal death on the cross be the way God chose to save the world? Like Shrek with Fiona, Jesus defied expectation.

Stereotypes/prejudice: As people we often make judgments. We make up our minds based on appearance, or on what we've been told to expect. We get these messages from the TV, from magazines, from our parents, from our teachers. Sometimes, though, we need to learn to listen without prejudice - to accept people for who they are, having got to know them for themselves.
